HEAD OF DEPARTMENT- BRAND MARKETING

HOD – BM –JULY- 2013 
Reporting to the Director - Marketing, the successful candidate will manage and evolve the company brand by devising its overall strategy, architecture and positioning to drive brand awareness and create business opportunities and growth through the brand.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the development and creation of a robust monolithic brand by creating powerful integrated communications delivered through an effective mix of channels.
  • Formulate and drive the use of an integrated platform of accessing all the different brands under the overall Safaricom Brand, which include M-PESA, Safaricom Business, and Safaricom Foundation
  • Manage and sustain the creation of a receptive market for growth of the brand, and enhancing brand equity across our various customer segments.
  • Participate and deliver expected support to other Divisions as a key integrator across functions by providing meaningful direct involvement in activities outside of the marketing function that impact customers and The Safaricom brand
  • Develop and drive the launch and delivery of ‘impactful’ internal programs to ensure the organization ‘lives the brand’.
  • Manage the agency creative development requirements for Safaricom to ensure delivery of above the line, and below the line advertising materials for execution.
  • Oversee internal coordination of advertising and promotional briefs to deliver world class advertising with regards to brand, brand assets, sponsorships, Safaricom Foundation and all internal departments.
  • People and performance Management - Monitoring departmental staff performance and manage the selection, growth, development and motivation of staff within your team and care.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies
  • A Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business administration.
  • Professional qualifications that drive brand disciplines.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in an Brand Marketing position function with a focus on brand management and advertising
  • Strong creative and conceptual skills.
  • Attention to detail with excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • An excellent planner and organizer
