Events Management Trainer

  • FilmAid is a development and humanitarian communications organisation that harnesses the power and influence of film and media to combat critical social issues.
    FilmAid is looking to engage a professional trainer in events management to train its field staff in all aspects of outreach events management.
    The training will take place in Dadaab, Kenya.
    Key responsibilities:
  • Work with relevant Dadaab FilmAid staff to plan and execute mini and main event taking into account targeted numbers and event locations.
  • Develop comprehensive roles and responsibilities list for event staff.
  • Develop, together with relevant Dadaab FilmAid staff a planning and execution tool that will define the benchmarks/standards for good outdoor public events with emphasis on safety, decision-making, contingency plans and evaluation.
  • Train relevant staff on how to set-up and operate outdoor event equipment and apparatus (including vehicle) for optimal performance.
  • Train relevant staff on basic troubleshooting and maintenance of the outdoor event equipment.
  • Working with relevant Dadaab FilmAid staff, develop effective rehearsal and dry run plan to guide pre-event activities.
  • Working with relevant Dadaab FilmAid staff, develop a multi-media event publicity strategy that encompasses radio, video, SMS and social media channels to promote and build events.
  • Working with relevant Dadaab FilmAid staff, formulate an event security plan that addresses security and safety risks associated with such activities. This shall be in line with FilmAid’s security management SOPs in existence.
  • Shall provide training to event management staff on how to deploy safety, crowd control, response and first aid resources in an event to mitigate safety and security risks.
  • Working with relevant Dadaab FilmAid staff, design a post event analysis and evaluation tool.
  • Develop benchmarks on success for all events in various field locations.
    Requirements:
  • Must be of Kenyan nationality/ must be eligible to work in Kenya.
  • BA/BS degree with strong education preferred demonstrable experience in a similar event management training role or consultancy.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work with non-native English speakers.
  • Good understanding of / and sensitive to different cultures and traditions.
  • Familiar with transparency and accountability processes and their values.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Proven track record in related consultancy work of minimum 3 years
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles
