Transaction Advisor

  • Chemonics seeks long-term technical specialists for the anticipated three-year, USAID-funded Power Africa Transactions and Reforms Program.
    The program aims to support capacity building and transactions under the U.S.
    President's Power Africa Initiative, focusing initially on the following countries: Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania.
    We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
    Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate with other Power Africa implementers and stakeholders, including other U.S. government agencies and donors
  • Identify and develop a pipeline of priority projects under the Power Africa initiative
  • Collect information and develop analysis on power projects for investors, lenders, and the Power Africa Working Group
  • Provide analysis on potential transactions and promising private sector-driven, high-impact energy projects
  • Assist in implementation of Independenet Power Producer (IPP) framework
  • Support technical capacity building and provide direct assistance on transaction issues to host-government and key ministries
  • Monitor and report on project development, assistance implementation, and reforms; track progress against Power Africa targets and objectives
    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in energy-related engineering, policy, business, finance, economics, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in power sector required; eight years of experience preferred
  • Experience with international donors, preferably USAID
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • English and Swahili fluency required
