IT Consultant

The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) project is designed to seek creative and flexible programs to address recognized needs in Somalia. The overall objectives of the TIS program are to increase the visibility of, and confidence in, government through improved service delivery; create collaborative and strategic partnerships between government institutions, private sector, and civil society; increase access to peace, recovery, and development information, support broad-based participation in the transition; and support to reconciliation processes. TIS program implements quick impact, short-term activities that promote stabilization, while using a collaborative framework for program design and implementation. This approach ensures Somali ownership of the entire process by engaging government, civil society, and private sector to collectively prioritize targeted stabilization initiatives. The TIS program implemented by Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI) is seeking to recruit an IT Consultant who will (1) set up an IT system, including the installation of 6 computers and applications and (2) provide basic computer skills training to the local administration in Baidoa.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Assist in setting up six (6) computers and configuration of the same; software installation and hardware configuration. This includes but is not limited to computers, printer, projector, router and UPS (uninterruptable power supply).
· Prepare training materials and provide a three (3) day basic training for15 participants on using computers, including MS windows, MS office and peripheral devices. The training will include:
o Basic computer skills and introduction to MS Office suite.
o How to carry out windows offline update and use of internet and emails.
o How to connect and share printers and resources available on the network
o How to organize files and demonstrate best practices for securing and maintaining computers.
o Additional topics as determined by TIS-DAI
· Submit a final report on the training and installation/set up. This report should have photos that demonstrate the training and computer configuration process. This is include photos, sign in sheets, and a pre/post test.
Qualifications:
· University degree in information technology or computer science.
OR
Diploma in IT and a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the same field
· Proven work experience in IT training and reporting
· Microsoft certified system expert/associate
· Cisco Certified Network Associate.
· Fluency in Somali and English
