Job Summary
The Project accountant is responsible for providing overall support to the Finance Department. Key responsibilities include payments preparation, cash receipts and processing, consolidation and analysis of financial data, supporting document preparation and filing. He/she will share some responsibility with the Finance Officer for maintaining accounting systems bookkeeping, financial reporting, and cash and bank accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow policies and procedures in the EGPAF international accounting manual and donor requirements
- Work directly with the FO to complete monthly financial reporting deliverables
- Timely processing of Staff Travel advances and project activity funds and ensuring timely liquidation on the same as per the EGPAF policies
- Review Invoices, prepare Payment vouchers and disburse the payment as per the set procedures
- Reconcile vendor statements with accounts payable schedules
- Receipt and prompt banking of EGPAF cash and collection of EGPAF bank correspondence.
- Ensure neat &timely filing and security of both scanned and hard copies of bank reconciliations, Journal entries vouchers, payment voucher ,Field Expense Reports and other Finance documents
- Support both External audits and internal reviews
- Support petty cash management, carry out petty cash counts and monthly Petty Cash reconciliation
- Maintain an up to date accurate financial transactions in the QuickBooks Systems
Required Qualifications
- A wide understanding and experience working with USG funded projects
- Minimum CPA-K or equivalent
- Minimum two years working in donor funded project accounting
- Excellent communication skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic and ability and willingness to work long hours
- Able to work in team settings and willingness to learn
- Cross-cultural competence as demonstrated by confidence and ability to make relevant presentations to diverse audiences
- IT Savvy, including accounting soft wares
- Willingness to travel (at least quarterly)
