The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 15 countries and at over 5,500 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States. With a growing global staff of over 1,000—nine of 10 who work in the field—the Foundation’s global mission is to eliminate pediatric HIV and AIDS by implementing HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs; further advance innovative research; and to execute strategic and targeted global advocacy activities to bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of women, children, and families worldwide.
EGPAF Kenya is looking to recruit Program Quality Improvement and Knowledge Management Lead to be based in Nairobi.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Information and Evaluation will head Program Quality Improvement and Knowledge Management portfolio. The incumbent's contribution in the long run is expected to enhance the implementation of proven HIV/AIDS interventions and provide feedback on their uptake, performance and challenges to support the institutional engagement with stakeholders and policy makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out systematic assessments to identify gaps impeding the successful implementation interventions.
- Lead in periodic assessment of implementation at baseline, midterm and end-term for all EGPAF projects in Kenya
- Develop protocols for Non research determination for systematic evaluations of ongoing projects
- Identify and package best practices and innovations emanating from EGPAF projects for sharing internally to improve programming and externally for policy direction
- identify and determine the status of relevant HIV/AIDS indicators to improve performance and inform course correction in a timely manner
- strengthen existing infrastructure to enhance monitoring, evaluation and reporting as per current country and donor priorities
- identifying high risk domains and sub-populations to inform targeted interventions
- support and facilitate evidence based decision making
- Support the EGPAF in engaging stakeholders and policy makers in policy and decision making
- Support and strengthen EGPAF technical staffs in evidence informed planning and decision making, and documentation using program generated data to improve quality of services
- Support and maintain a knowledge management database/warehouse to improve technical capacity and program implementation
- Represent EGPAF in program review forums at the County, National and International level
- Take lead in the adaptation and roll out of national quality improvement platforms in supported sites
Essential Professional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· A Master’s degree in Public Health/Epidemiology/statistics or cognate discipline from recognized institution - A PhD is an added advantage.
· More than 5 years working experience in HIV/AIDS research or program previous experience in working for or with the National HIV/AIDS program is an added advantage
· Proven analytic and report writing experience – first author peer reviewed publications in the field of HIV/AIDS
· Proven experience in communication and advocacy – previous experience in oral presentations at a national or international conference an added advantage
· Demonstrated experience as a team leader and/or working with multiple HIV/AIDS implementation partners.
· Vast knowledge in HIV programming.
· Excellent data management skills in Stata, SPSS, GIS, qualitative and quantitative data management
· Experience in Managing large datasets: Population based surveys (KAIS, KDHS and others), experience in handling EMR datasets
· Excellent and demonstrated writing and communication skills
· Familiarity with the Mhealth Systems and Android platform will be an added advantage.
