Medecins Sans Frontieres is an international organization, which provides assistance, to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict, doing so irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions.
The position will be responsible to implement the MSF-OCA Mental Health Program, monitor and initiate evaluation of culturally and socially appropriate program aspects and to bear witness to the fate of people facing humanitarian crisis.
He/She will be hierarchically and functionally supervised by the Medical Coordinator of Somalia OCA mission.
The position will be based in Nairobi and will be responsible for Coordination of all mental health activities in Somalia mission in collaboration with the Medical team Leaders of the projects.
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
• To develop and adjust program strategy, its implementation and/or content in collaboration with the Project Coordinator and Medical Coordinator
• To develop/design data collection tools to ensure a quantitative monthly program output overview
• To ensure that other relevant staff understand and implement the tools and systems
• To organize the collation and analysis of data
• To ensure that each member of staff has adequate training and understanding to carry out their duties
• To ensure that MSF-OCA National Staff adheres to security guidelines and MSF charter and mental health code of ethics
• Build and maintain contacts with the local authorities, NGO’s and other relevant organizations in cooperation with the PC and/or MC
• Establish networks and referrals (social and mental health) with local social, community and health institutions and other relevant community based organizations, (I)NGOs, medical organizations
• Identify advocacy issues and discuss them with the team

REQUIREMENTS
• Somali origin but Kenyan nationality
• Formal education in the ‘Caring profession’ and 2 years post qualification in one of the following fields: Psychiatric Nursing and/or Community Psychiatric Nursing, Social work, Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling
• Demonstrable experience in training community groups and/or psycho-education
• Demonstrable experience in either post traumatic stress disorder or trauma and related areas
• Demonstrable experience in supervising, training and coaching others
• Good command of English and Somali mother tongue
• Computer skills
